Dear Visitation Families,
I am trying to figure out what happened to March; how did it get to be the last week of March when I feel that it somehow just started?! It seems impossible that next week is Holy Week, but it is. As part of helping our students prepare for Holy Week, we are offering each class the opportunity to attend the Sacrament of Reconciliation.
The Liturgy Committee will also be presenting the Stations of the Cross on Good Friday, April 6th. Please be aware that the school will not have a mass on that day as traditionally, there is no mass celebrated on Good Friday. We will not, as a school, have a liturgy on Holy Thursday so I urge you to ensure that your child(ren) attend(s) the liturgies on Holy Thursday in your parish.
ANOTHER SIGN OF SPRING: It’s time to sign up for Track and Field. Visitation Catholic School has a proud tradition of being a major force in Pierce County’s Track and Field competitions, so check the Note Home for the sign up sheet.
CIRCUS TICKETS: You will find tickets to the Jordan World Circus in today’s Note Home. This is the first year that we received them, so we can’t tell you the quality of the performances. However, they will be performing at the Puyallup Fairgrounds on Saturday and Sunday, April 6th and 7th. Children are free with a pass and adults are $16.00.
THANK YOU TARGET SHOPPERS: We received another check from Target for $194.43. This represents 1% of the purchases made by those of you who signed up for a REDcard. This is the second check this year. If you would like to be part of this program, you can sign up at Target or on the web, visit Target.com/tcoe .
THANK YOU TO PACE: We are very blessed at Visitation Catholic School to receive generous Tuition support from the Fulcrum Foundation. We are doubly lucky here is Pierce County, as our local support, PACE (Pierce County Association of Catholic Educators) is also very generous in their tuition assistance to our school. Between both groups, we have received nearly $25,000 in tuition assistance for our families this year. Please say a thank you prayer for the benefactors that give to these organizations.
VOLLEYBALL CAMP: 4th through 8th grade girls are being invited to the Bellarmine Volleyball camp that will be held from June 18th through June 22nd. The cost is $95. For more information, there are brochures in the office or call Bellarmine at 752-7701.
FYI: The After School Art Program is cancelled for this week as the Phoenix Housing Network is hosting families in our lower hall this weekend.
FYFI (for your further information): The faculty and staff were pleased to host the Accreditation Visiting Team for their pre-visit meeting on Tuesday. The Visiting Team was very complimentary of our wonderful school and children. We are looking forward to their return for the official three day visit on April 16th, 17th, and 18th.
DON’T FORGET: Volunteers are needed to help decorate Visitation Church on Holy Saturday (April 7th) beginning at 10:00AM. Please call the Rectory or just show up, if you can help. Yes, it counts for service hours!
PRAYERS PLEASE: continued prayers for Alex’s grandfather who is fighting cancer.
See you at the auction!
Peace and Blessing,
Sheila Harrison
