Thursday Note Home

Dear Visitation Families,

Next Saturday is the four-Parish celebration of Pentecost. We will be celebrating as a larger community at the 5:00 St. Ann Mass. Just as a reminder, there will be no 5:00 Saturday Mass at Visitation, Sacred Heart, or SJW parishes. I am really looking forward to this celebration as it is a wonderful feeling to feel a part of this larger community.

I love Pentecost because, to me, this was the day that we were given our “marching orders” to spread the Good News and continue the work that Jesus had begun on Earth. With all four of our diverse communities together, we can truly feel that we are part of the Universal Church inspired with new energy by the Holy Spirit.

I know that this is also a long Memorial Day weekend and many families will be out of town. However, if you are in town, please come and be part of this great celebration. People are asked to wear the color red to Church on Pentecost, so have your children wear their uniforms. Yes, they will get a free dress day on Tuesday, the 29th, if they attend St. Ann on Saturday.

TRACK TEAM NEWS: Grades 5 - 8’s big meet was last Saturday and the Vikings did very well! Highlights of the meet were Sammy taking 2nd place in the high jump, Neva took 2nd place in the long jump, Ashley was 4th in the shot put and finally, Michael R and Michael M who took first and second place respectively in the 100 meter and the 200 meter. A great job, as well, to Ryan, Siji, Marisol, Madeline, Tessa, Bryanna, Elise, and Micaela.

BOOK FAIR: The ever-popular book fair is returning from May 29th to June 1st. If you are still looking for ways to complete your service hours, sign up to help. There is a need for set-up on Friday, May 25th from 12:30 until it is done. There are times to sign up for sales on Tuesday May 29th from 8 AM to & PM, on Wednesday from 8 AM to 4 PM, and Friday, June 1st from 8 AM to 12:30 PM.

Clean up help is needed on Friday, June 1st from 1 PM until it’s finished!

Pentecost!

Remember to join us for our four-parish celebration of Pentecost on Saturday the 26th at 5:00PM at St. Ann.

VENI, Creator Spiritus,
mentes tuorum visita,
imple superna gratia
quae tu creasti pectora.
COME, Holy Spirit, Creator blest,
and in our souls take up Thy rest;
come with Thy grace and heavenly aid
to fill the hearts which Thou hast made.
Qui diceris Paraclitus,
altissimi donum Dei,
fons vivus, ignis, caritas,
et spiritalis unctio.
O comforter, to Thee we cry,
O heavenly gift of God Most High,
O fount of life and fire of love,
and sweet anointing from above.
Tu, septiformis munere,
digitus paternae dexterae,
Tu rite promissum Patris,
sermone ditans guttura.
Thou in Thy sevenfold gifts are known;
Thou, finger of God's hand we own;
Thou, promise of the Father, Thou
Who dost the tongue with power imbue.
Accende lumen sensibus:
infunde amorem cordibus:
infirma nostri corporis
virtute firmans perpeti.
Kindle our sense from above,
and make our hearts o'erflow with love;
with patience firm and virtue high
the weakness of our flesh supply.
Hostem repellas longius,
pacemque dones protinus:
ductore sic te praevio
vitemus omne noxium.
Far from us drive the foe we dread,
and grant us Thy peace instead;
so shall we not, with Thee for guide,
turn from the path of life aside.
Per te sciamus da Patrem,
noscamus atque Filium;
Teque utriusque Spiritum
credamus omni tempore.
Oh, may Thy grace on us bestow
the Father and the Son to know;
and Thee, through endless times confessed,
of both the eternal Spirit blest.
Deo Patri sit gloria,
et Filio, qui a mortuis
surrexit, ac Paraclito,
in saeculorum saecula.

Amen.
Now to the Father and the Son,
Who rose from death, be glory given,
with Thou, O Holy Comforter,
henceforth by all in earth and heaven.

Amen.

Feast of the Ascension

YE men of Galilee, why are you gazing in astonishment at the sky? Alleluia.
Just as you have seen him ascend into heaven,
so, in like manner, shall he return, alleluia, alleluia, alleluia.
All nations, clap your hands; shout unto God with a voice of joy.

(Viri Galilæi, traditional introit chant for the Feast of the Ascension)

Thursday Note Home

Dear Visitation Families,

It is certainly true that we have talented students here at Visitation Catholic School. Our students had an opportunity to shine on Friday night during the Spring Spectacular. It was a Disney night as all of our classes sang songs from different Disney movies, and they each did a wonderful job.

The talent show portion was great, as well, as our individual students shined.

Thank you to Angela Moceri, Thom Ryng, and a great cast of supporting help.

SPEAKING OF FRIDAY NIGHT: If anyone taped the show and wouldn’t mind sharing, we would be happy to make copies for other parents to enjoy. If you have a tape to share, please contact Carol Loughridge at the school phone # 474-6424.

TRACK TEAM NEWS: Grades 5-8’s big meet is set for May 19th at Franklin Pierce High School. Participants should be there by 10:00 AM. The meet is scheduled to end at 4:00. Grades 3- 5 will have their meet after school on Wednesday, May 23. This will likely be held at DeLong Elementary with a start time of 3:30 and ending by 5:30 to 6:00. Please come and cheer our Viking Track Team!

REGISTRATION NEWS: The Archdiocese has returned the list of grants to families that asked for tuition assistance. Please call the office to make an appointment to sign your contracts. Don’t forget to be sure that you are registered at the parish and have a current stewardship card on file if you are asking for in-parish tuition. If you aren’t sure, be sure to check with your parish.
